Who are we?
Lavender Grove Cares intends to be part of the local children’s services sector that is integral to any community. The philosophy underpinning the work which we will undertake is to empower and enable individual children and young people to make choices within a safe, proactive environment facilitating exploration of their growth and awareness of themselves and their place in society. Lavender Grove believes that offering care and support through a therapeutic lens allows us to more fully consider the needs of each of our children and young people.
Why are we doing this?
At Lavender Grove Cares we believe in the value of ‘belonging’ and being a part of something positive. So at Lavender Grove Cares our aim is to provide a loving and nurturing experience for children and young people when they are unable to live with their own families. We do this because we care, and we believe that every child deserves to be encouraged through kindness, support, warmth, boundaries and pride.

What will we do?
We aim to provide our children and young people with the kind of parental support, attention and stability of which they may have had limited experience. The Lavender Grove Cares family will work with our young people to understand their emotions and how to better handle the consequences of those emotions.
We will provide a holistic framework in which young peoples’ emotional, cultural, religious, social and intellectual and health needs are met. Our perspective is that effective childcare has to encompass all areas of a young person’s life, working in partnership with the Local Authorities, education professionals, youth workers, Emotional, Wellbeing and Mental Health Service, therapists.
We aim to support and build their skills in learning at their school so they can gain qualifications and start to believe in their own ability to achieve. We aim to provide all the young people we care for with the necessary support so that they are ready, equipped and prepared for their next steps in their future.
How will we do this?
We recognise that our staff at Lavender Grove Cares are our most valuable resource. The ability to offer the best care to our children and young people depends on having a team that has the right experience, expertise and skills. We also look further than the qualifications and have staff members that continually demonstrate Lavender Grove Cares’ values, commitment and dedication.
We will always listen to feedback, compliments and complaints from our young people to improve our service.
Lavender Grove will ensure we follow and adopt industry best practices around educational and social development, mental health wellbeing, and healthy food and activities to enable the children to develop, be offered stimulating activities and have a sense of achievement. To aid their emotional wellbeing there will be access to therapeutic support to both the staff and young people.
We will always consider gender, sexuality, disability, religion, culture and heritage of children and young people when considering matching placements. Alongside working in partnership with Local authorities, Ofsted, CAFCASS and other relevant professionals, Lavender Grove will challenge inappropriate practice and adhere to procedures to ensure we maintain safeguarding of children and young people in our care.

Lavender Grove prefers a planned move into the service: which would involve receipt of the full referral and placement information; a visit to the child or young person in their current placement; the Child/ young person coming to visit, an internal matching meeting and a placement meeting with the Local Authority.
However, we appreciate that emergency placements are also required so we would need to ensure that the placement is appropriate for the young person and that the wellbeing and needs of our current young people are considered and not destabilised. Lavender Grove would minimise any unnecessary delay to ensure a home is offered efficiently and safely.
